Quick & Easy Surgery Scheduling Checklist
Diagnosis
Diagnose a patient for surgical referral, and offer IV sedation as the preferred anesthesia option.
Treatment Plan/Financial
Create a preliminary treatment estimate. If you need help with coding, please email us a copy of the patient’s panoramic X-ray. The next step is to complete financial arrangements with the patient.
Pre-Op Forms
Provide the patient with our written pre-operative instructions and with our medical history form. If the medical history is complicated, it may be necessary to have the patient’s physician complete our medical consultation form.
Scheduling Preferences
Ask the patient for their general scheduling preferences or for any other specific scheduling preferences.
Email Patient Info to Doctor
Send Dr. Ragsdale an email that includes the following information:
- Panoramic X-ray (less than 12 months old)
- Updated medical history form
- Treatment plan
- Patient's scheduling preferences
Book Appointment
Dr. Ragsdale will confirm a surgery date and time. Please contact the patient to confirm their appointment. We recommend collecting a deposit at the time you schedule the appointment.
Confirm Appointment
Confirm the appointment with both the patient and with Dr. Ragsdale both one week and one day before the appointment.
Day of Surgery
Place a copy of the X-ray, the treatment plan, and our oral surgery forms with the patient’s chart in the consultation room. Ask the dental assistant to place dental supplies in the operatory. (Please refer to the consultation and operatory checklists in our handbook and on this website for additional details).
Post-Op Appointment
Schedule the patient to see you five-to-seven days post-op for irrigation instructions. Give them a monoject syringe, and check the wounds. Advise patient to contact Dr. Ragsdale with any questions or concerns.
